On May 11th, we invited Dr. Masumi Yamada from Disaster Prevention Research Institute, Kyoto University to share with us the Earthquake Early Warning in Japan regarding Integrated Particle Filter (IPF) and Propagation of Local Undamped Motion (PLUM) methods.
As we all know, Japan is one of the first countries to launch earthquake early warning alerts on the national level. It’s a privilege to have Dr. Yamada talk about the comparison of the two above-mentioned algorithms.
Dr Masumi Yamada shared the real-life examples according to the speed and accuracy, as well as the warning statistics from 2008 to 2017.
We have recorded and uploaded the webinar on our YouTube channel. Please check out here:
This Webinar is organised for the benefit of the Community of Practice on the Earthquake Early Warning in Aotearoa New Zealand. We will continue to make effort to invite speakers from other parts of the globe to share expertise regarding the area. Please stay tuned for our next speaker.
