CRISiSLab Webinar: Thoughts on Earthquake Early Warning and Operational Forecasting in Southwest Iceland

On the 1st of December, CRISiSLab hosted the last webinar of the year 2021 regarding the Earthquake Early Warning theme. We invited Dr Benedikt Halldórsson, a Research Professor and Seismology Specialist in Earthquake and Engineering to give us a presentation. Benedikt works in the University of Iceland and Icelandic Meteorological Office, and he shared with us his thoughts on Earthquake Early Warning and Operational Earthquake Forecasting in Southwest Iceland.

It was a very informative webinar with an awesome presentation followed by valuable questions in the discussion session. We are very grateful to Benedikt for engaging with CRISiSLab EEW and supporting us to finish the year 2021 on a high note.

Here are a few slides from Benedikt’s presentation. We also share the full recording of the webinar on our YouTube Channel CRISiSLab where you can access below following the slides.

Check out the full-length recording here, and welcome to follow us on YouTube to keep yourself posted on our events.

For CRISiSLab webinar, we invite speakers from all around the world to share their newest findings and knowledge regarding earthquake early warning. We have been organising webinars, workshops or similar engagement activities for the Community-of-Practice regularly. If interested to be included in the list, please email Alicia at a.cui1@massey.ac.nz.
